Wednesday 28th. I got under weigh and

attempted to steam out

but

owing to a

strong

and heavy

squall from the N.E. wind

I had to return to

the village where the fisherman reported seeing

the Junks. At first the

inhabitants

professed

total ignorance

regarding the Junks and

their goods.

At the same time the interpreter

learnt from

some of the younger ones,

that the Pirates had been there with

the looted fishing junks, and had also

sold the nets in

the village.

Considering the information I now

had to be relied upon,

I decided to remain at anchor off Rocky harbour until the weather should

moderate. On

I got under weigh and examined Fol Channel and harbour, also "Hlover Cove",

and then the creeks and coves in Double Haven, and finally anchored off the

village. I delivered

an ultimatum

and threatened to

take action against the village if the loot

was not produced within a certain time. At the expiration of that time, nothing having

been produced, I fired

a shot

over

the village.

One of the inhabitants professed

that the nets were

there, and promised to

produce them.
